Pratchett's Luggage Cake by CakeUpStudio Pratchett's Luggage Cake by CakeUpStudio
disclaimer: this is a fanart cake of Luggage character from Discworld novel series created by Sir Terry Pratchett. I'm sure it would be most useful in our world too, unfortunately I don't own it/him... but a girl can dream.
design: when my sister asked me to make a cake for the new year's eve party with her fellow Pratchett fans I had a hard time deciding which character would be the best to turn into edible version. but then I remembered this cute homicidal chest, who not only provides fresh underwear at any time but also eats your enemies. not to mention that there's no risk of losing him since he follows you on his tiny legs
cake: free-hand sculpted dark chocolate mudcake filled with lemon and white chocolate cream, covered with ganache and then fondant. legs are made from white modeling chocolate and fondant mix

This reminds me of the Man-eater chests and mimics from Dragon Warrior games.

Oh the little feet. How cute. I've never read the Discworld books but this guy seems like a comical companion to keep around. How did you achieve the paint scheme for the cobblestone? It's so realistic.

he kills your enemies sometimes in a comical way ;P and I didn't paint them - I took pieces of black, white and 'feet' fondant, marbled them, than formed random balls and squished them onto the board. it took forever!

Hi--

What a great rendition of The Luggage! I especially like the way you handled the wood grain.

I have started a Facebook page for the Discworld Bakers Guild (www.facebook.com/DWBakersGuild…. I wondered if you 1) might like to join, and 2) if you would permit me to post your photos of your Luggage cake in a photo gallery on the page. You would receive full credit for the cake/photos. I can include a link back to your blog/gallery if you like. Let me know what you think.

sorry for late reply! you know, this link doesn't work... but I've found your page!
so, thank you! feel free to post Luggage cake with this link my Facebook page www.facebook.com/cakeupstudio or if you prefere direct link to it's Facebook post www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…
and I don't spend much time on Facebook, so is it even possible to join as a page, not as a person?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me! Sorry about the link not working... but glad you found the page.

Facebook requires an email address and a password to set up an account. Once you have an account you can create a page for whatever you want, though if you create a page for a business you're supposed to be an official representative of that business.

Thanks so much for allowing me to link to your Luggage cake for the Discworld Bakers Guild! If you have any commentary to add to the photo (on materials, construction, Discworld, etc.) let me know and I can include it with the photo. Thanks again!

the question was if I can 'like' you as a 'CakeUpStudio' or from my personal profile. sorry for the confusion Sweating a little...
if you wold like to add any info on design or materials it would be best to link it to deviation above since I already wrote all the important stuff in the description :)
