I love making 'selfie' cakes! not only I can experiment with new recipes but also try the most crazy ideas!
this one I is made of free-hand sculpted caramel mudcake layered with salty caramel frosting and covered with chocolate ganache and then fondant/modeling chocolate mix. I made it as two separate cakes (birch trunk and owl) and then stacked them together. I'm proud to inform that it's 100% edible - there is absolutely no internal structure, not even rice crisps. but in some places (like tail) the fondant had to be pretty thick. it was also painted with food dyes.
still the most difficult part was choosing my favourite type of owl!
