here's a 'baker's selfie' - a cake I made for my own birthday last year
it's always the best and at the same time the worst cake to make - the best because I can experiment and choose any design I want! the worst because it's really difficult to pick just one of million favourite things to turn into a cake. not to mention that I'm the worst customer I have ever worked for (self-criticism is my middle cake-name
) it also doesn't help when my friends at last minute decide to move party to a bbq place by the river (weather was just too nice to stay inside!) and I have to change 3D delicate piped chocolate topper into something that will survive the ride. but it ended up pretty well and I love burned meat so no complaints here
sorry for not posting any pictures of how it looked inside - by the time we started cutting I was too dru... I meant it was too dark to make any decent photos...
so you're looking at triple chocolate cake layered with sour cherries and chocolate cream covered with dark chocolate ganache and fondant. all decorations are made from fondant with the exception of the biggest half-gears on top which are piped chocolate. 100% hand-cut since I don't have any gear molds
